Registration

• How much is Devoxx?*
  • The University (first two days) is 250 Euro which also includes some BOFs, quickies and exhibition (2nd day). The Conference (following 3 days) is 350 Euro which again includes in addition BOFs, Quickies, Labs and exhibition. Both University and Conference together (5 days) is 550 Euro. All prices are exclusive 21% VAT.

• When can I register for Devoxx?
  • Registration is now open @ http://reg09.devoxx.com

• Why do I have to pay 21% VAT if my company is not located in Belgium ?
  • Because the event takes place in Belgium we're obliged by Belgian law to ask 21% VAT.

• Until when can one register for the Devoxx (closing date for registrations)?
  • Online registration for Devoxx 2009 will be open until event is sold out. The last two years Devoxx was sold out several weeks before the event, so don't wait too long!

• Can I get group discounts?
  • We give no group discounts. With an average entrance fee of 100 Euro per day, Devoxx is still the most affordable Java conference around the world giving developers great Java-value-for-money.

An easy and economic way to get to Antwerp if you fly in

1) Fly to Brussels (Zaventem)
2) Take train or bus to Antwerp Central

By train
There is a train station AT the airport. To get to Antwerp, you'll have to make 1 change of train:

By bus
There is an SN bus that drives from Zaventem airport (every hour) to Antwerp Keyserlei (name of the street), which is right in front of the central station in Antwerp.

From Antwerp Central to the Devoxx Conference
There is a metro nr6 which stops right in front of the Devoxx conference entrance (=Metropolis Business Communication Center)

Question concerning Invoice Payment

• Can I pay the invoice with a credit card (Visa or Mastercard)
  • Yes you can, please contact Kristien Leyn for more information.

• Can you please help confirm/clarify if my understanding of the following information on the invoice is correct:
  • Payee or Beneficiary: The Java Community EBVBA* --> Correct
  • Address: Lijsterbessendreef 1, 8020 Oostkamp, Belgie* --> Correct
  • Is "Referentie" the invoice reference number ?* --> YES
  • Is "Rek.nr " the bank account number ?* --> YES

• What does "BTW BE 0477.182.887 - RPR Brugge" mean ?
  • BTW is the dutch acronym for VAT number, the telephone number for more info during business hours is +32 50 67 57 91.

• Which events can I attend when I register for Devoxx?*
  • When you register for the University talks you can attend ALL university talks, whiteboard sessions, quickies, BOFs and exhibition hall during those days. Same story for the Conference attendees.

Registration Cancellation

• Can I cancel my registration?
  • For a full refund (minus 10 Euro admin costs), notification must be received by September 30th 2009. After September 2009, a 50% refund will be given. No refunds will be made after October 20th 2009 (see also 2nd invoice page).

Traveling direction

• We will arrive at the BRU Airport. To get to the Metroplis (in particular the Hotel Carlton Astoria), are we considered coming from Brussels / Mechelen (E19-Zuid), or from Brussels (A12-Zuid) ?
  • Brussels. Take a train from the Brussels airport to Antwerp (center) and take a taxi from there onwards.

• We are hiring a car and therefore will be driving up from the BRU airport. To get to the Metroplis (in particular the Hotel Carlton Astoria), are we considered coming from Brussels / Mechelen (E19-Zuid), or from Brussels (A12-Zuid) ?
  • E19 (FYI - Surf to http://www.uk.map24.com/ for a complete route plan, enter "Zaventem airport" and "Metropolis Antwerpen" in the start and destination fields and press the "route" button).

Mobile Phone

• We are coming from overseas (US). Any mobile phone service in Antwerp that we can hire a mobile phone for local use for a week or so ?
  • You can hire a mobile phone in the national airport of Zaventem (Brussels - BRU).

Credit Card

• Is the use of credit card (Amex, Visa, Master) popular ? Would one survive without carrying any Euros ?
  • You can use Credit Cards in Belgium for hotels, restaurants even (if you double check) taxi's. However I would recommend you get a few Euro's just in case.

Call for Papers

• (When) can I submit my presentation ?
  • Call For Papers will open in June but we'll only accept proposals for Quickies, BOFs and Tools in Action talks. Conference and University talks are hand picked by the Devoxx program committee.
